@gregmartinmusic reflects back on his time with #lynyrdskynyrd and friendship with the late #garyrossington 🙏Saddened to hear about the passing of my old friend Gary Rossington. When I subbed for Ed King back in 1992, Gary, Dale, the entire band and crew were very kind to me. They knew I was nervous, but did everything they could to make me feel welcome. During the initial rehearsals outside Jacksonville, Gary and Dale invited me to their home a couple times at night to hang. Gary and I would play guitars and watch Stevie Ray Vaughan and Free videos. He loved Paul Kossoff, he’d get teary eyed watching Koss play.The HeadHunters ended up playing a few shows with Skynyrd over the years, the last time I saw Gary was at a Gibson guitar party in 2014.The 3 weeks I traveled with the guys was an amazing adventure, I’ll always treasure the shows we did and the little blues jams at the rehearsals, it was fun playing off Gary free-form. Condolences and prayers to Dale & the entire Lynyrd Skynyrd family.Love ya Gary…Ps There’s more memories from that 1992 tour that I’ll share later.
